“Public non admis”
Workshop mené par Roger BERNAT et Roberto FRATINI
Aujourd’hui, de plus en plus d’artistes font appel à la participation du public, invité à accompagner créativement la réalisation de projets artistiques. Que ce soit en direct ou de manière préparée, par des entretiens ou en flashmob, ces citoyens, communautés et groupes de personnes outrepassent, le temps d’une oeuvre, la passivité du spectateur classique. L’émancipation du regard est devenue l’enjeu dominant de ces nouvelles pratiques scéniques, généralement urbaines.
Les récents travaux de Roger Bernat questionnent les formats, protocoles et préjugés du théâtre de participation, d’interaction ou d’immersion.
Le workshop présentera les signifiants poétiques des créations de Bernat, analysera la généalogie poétique du théâtre participatif, les raisons qui l’ont fait devenir un genre à part entière ces dernières décennies, et enfin, explorera les motivations idéologiques de son évolution.
Nous essaierons de comprendre les liens de ce théâtre fait par/pour le public avec la performance historique, notamment à partir des notions de vérité, d’immédiateté et de spontanéité.
Enfin, nous verrons si, comme cela a déjà été prétendu, la participation sabote les lois du spectacle ou si elle les métamorphose.
Chaque session sera divisée en deux parties; Roger Bernat commence par parler de ses performances participatives, il sera suivi par Roberto Fratini qui viendra détruire tous ses arguments.

Nowadays, more and more artists invite the audience to take an active part in artistic projects. Whether directly or prepared, through interviews or flashmobs, these citizens, communities or groups of individuals overstep, during one piece, the assumed passivity of the classical spectator. The emancipation of the audience has become a predominant issue in contemporary and often urban performance practices.
Roger Bernat’s recent works almost systematically question formats, protocols and prejudices of participatory, interactive and immersive theatre.
The workshop will present the poetics signifiers of Bernat’s work, analyse the poetics genealogy of participatory theatre, the reasons which have made it a genre in itself over the last decade, and finally, it will explore the ideological motivations of its evolution.
We will try to understand the relationship of this genre made by/for the audience with historical performance, taking into account notions of truth, immediacy and spontaneity.
Finally we will see if, as it has been alleged, participation is about sabotaging theatre rules or rather if it transforms them.
Each session will be divided into two parts: Roger Bernat will start talking about his participative performances, he will then be followed by Roberto Fratini who will put his arguments into pieces.
